Can we show products?  What about products in use?

PBS guidelines do not prohibit the display of products, unless it’s for children’s programming.  If you show products being used, watch out for depictions or demonstrations that emphasize superiority, or illustrate consumer satisfaction.  Additionally, especially with how-to programs, which frequently contain references to consumer products (such as food items, gardening and building products and implements, etc.), it is important that underwriting credits attached to these programs not contain any product identification that would create the perception of a commercial connection between the program content and the underwriter's products or services.
